About Me

Robie_Sullivan_MA

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri. I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Mid America Nazarene University, with an emphasis in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling. I also hold a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and I spent fourteen years practicing law before transitioning to the counseling profession.

I have diverse experience in the private practice of counseling and in community counseling clinical settings. I have developed a sub-specialty in helping clients with the mental and emotional aspects of injury, illness, and surgery recovery. Relatedly, I work with clients who are experiencing various forms of health anxiety. I am passionate about helping clients heal their relationships with their bodies.  I am trained in EMDR and trauma therapy. My clinical experience includes treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, and body concerns. Although I have worked extensively with couples, my current practice is focused on individuals and I am not accepting new couples or families.

An avid reader, I am devoted to continued professional development through research, mentoring relationships, and formal training.  I have also enjoyed working with the next generation of counselors as an Adjunct Professor in MidAmerica Nazarene University’s graduate counseling program and as a Clinical Supervisor.

I am a Christ-follower and I enjoy integrating spiritual wellness into my work with clients. I enjoy working with clients of a diversity of faith perspectives.  My husband of 32 years is my best friend, and we have two young adult children and a son-in-law.  My family enjoys sports, hiking and biking on vacation, and our beloved toy poodle.  I also love to care for my mind and body through regular practices of running, group fitness, weight lifting, and yoga.

I consider counseling to be a high calling and I am honored when I have the privilege of walking with another person on his or her healing journey. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site!
